Drive by Posting
I wanted to take the couple of minutes I have with both hands free to say thank you to all of our friends and family who have given so generously, both of baby-supplies and their time. There is no way we would have survived the lead-up to and days immediately following Josie's birth without my parents, no way we could have had such a nice Xmas week without Doctor's family, and no way I would have maintained my sanity during the first hard week without the support I received via email and Facebook. Things are still a little tough, as we continue to work out Josie's sleep schedule and as I continue to heal (albeit slowly) from the surgery, but hopefully I will be able to write back and individually thank everyone in the near future for all they have done for us. Sorry this post is a little incoherent, but that's what 3 hours of sleep per night will get you.

It doesn't stay this way long, ever. In neither the good or in the bad ways. Just be, go with the flow, know you are doing good enough and she's never had parents before so what does she care. You will catch up on sleep someday. Things like how it feels to the little foot of your own babe in waiting move across the inside of abdomen in pregnancy, or and the feel of the softness of new born feet that have never touched the earth leave your senses forever. It's a time of madness but short. Someone on facebook said to you that two weeks is the hardest, and I agree. Babies go through a growth spurt that makes them nurse 24 -7 for a few days (it makes you doubt your milk supply and your abuilty to stick with nursing!), the new baby high and romance has worn off, your man is back at work, and you are wondering when the real parents will show up to take care of this baby. But this passes, and then right when you get the hang of this, time has shifted again and you will be both be whole new people, with a whole new thing to be in. And it will be great.
You do what you need to do, love...we're here when you're ready. Take your time and, as Heidi D says, go with the flow. xxoo
